About What's Normal?
Fresh Polls
The What’s Normal? staff will post daily polls in a variety of topics. From personal habits to your interest in sports, and from your driving behavior to how you use the bathroom!
Anonymity
The site has been designed to allow you to be as private or as open as you’d like. Your answers to poll questions will always be anonymous. However, if you feel compelled to share your answer, the comments section for each poll can be used to specify, explain and/or defend your answer.
Target Audience
What’s Normal? is meant to appeal to the masses. Most poll questions will not be specific to a distinct group of individuals. There may, however, be a few polls that you simply can’t answer. If that is that case, don’t! For example, there may be a poll about how you dry your hair. If you’re bald, that question simply doesn’t apply to you, so just don’t vote.
Normality
A "Normality" rating, as depicted on the Normality Meters, is a number between 1-10 which is calculated based on your answers to polls and how your answers compare to the answers given by others. The calculations aren't terribly complex. Basically speaking, if your answer(s) match the answer(s) given by everyone else, your "Normality" would be 10. If your answer(s) are different from those given by others, your "Normality" would be 0.
Demographic Normality
Taking Normality one step further, we can narrow down your rating based on demographics. Let’s say you are interested in how your bathroom habits compare to other single males between the ages of 26-35. Simply click on “Demographic Normality”, specify the Bathroom Habits topic, check off the desired demographics, and let the site calculate how “normal” you are!
